POSITION DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON, ART (Current Employees Only) LOCATION District-Wide REPORTS TO Curriculum Specialist for Gifted and Talented, Health and Physical Education, and Visual and Performing Arts QUALIFICATIONS Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in Art Master’s Degree preferred Three or more years of successful teaching experience Experience developing and delivering various professional development sessions (seminars, interactive work sessions, small group, and one on one coaching) Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, school administrators and central office staff Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning Knowledge of strategies to increase student engagement Knowledge of instructional differentiation strategies Demonstrated leadership abilities RESPONSIBILITIES Collaboration : Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to identify curriculum needs, gather feedback, and incorporate diverse perspectives into curriculum design. Participate in one yearly coaching meeting (full day), new hire orientation, and in afterschool planning meetings (2 hours, monthly) with the content curriculum specialist. Serve as a member of the Core Curriculum Team for the Content Area, overseeing District Arts Events. District Art Show : Coordinate logistics and execution of the district art show. Curriculum Development & Implementation : Collaborate to identify annual objectives and plan/implement various District-wide curricular initiatives (K‑12). Research and collaborate on curricular resource materials, RFPs, inventory tracking and maintenance, distribution of instructional materials, and new hire planning. Create and manage a collection of lesson plans and resources for teachers, supporting both struggling and high‑achieving students, integrating digital literacy and tech skills. Resources posted or linked in Content Schoology Groups. Instructional Design & Standards : Ensure curriculum materials and instructional strategies align with relevant educational standards and trends. Provide resources (e.g., Schoology, Content Rolling Agenda) to support effective teaching. Professional Development : Collaboratively design a comprehensive PD plan with the Curriculum Specialist; provide training and PD opportunities for educators; serve as a resource for teachers seeking support with curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment. Data Analysis, Assessment & Evaluation : Develop assessment tools and evaluation criteria to measure student learning outcomes and assess effectiveness of curriculum materials. Present evaluation findings at least annually. Communication : Collaborate on communications (Content Area rolling agenda, Schoology Group resources, Weekly Memo updates) to share information with stakeholders. Provide board, CSD cabinet, and committee presentations as needed. Policy Compliance & Networking : Ensure compliance with education policies and regulations. Build professional networks and collaborate with other curriculum specialists, educators, and organizations to share best practices.
