Healthcare Counsel AttorneyDirect Counsel is seeking a Counsel – Healthcare to join a highly respected California-based law firm with a sophisticated healthcare practice. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced attorney with a strong background advising hospitals, medical staffs, and healthcare organizations on complex regulatory, governance, and peer review matters.This role can be based in San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, or Orange County.ResponsibilitiesAdvise hospital medical staffs, healthcare executives, and institutional stakeholders on governance, credentialing, peer review, and bylaws compliance mattersCounsel clients on healthcare regulatory and administrative issues impacting medical staff operationsDraft and revise bylaws, policies, governance documents, and related agreementsSupport and manage medical staff hearings, investigations, and related proceedingsHandle disputes and litigation involving credentialing, peer review, and professional licensing mattersCollaborate closely with physicians, executives, and healthcare leadership to provide strategic, practical legal guidanceAnalyze complex legal and operational issues while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and responsivenessQualifications8+ years of experience practicing healthcare law or a related fieldStrong experience in healthcare regulatory matters, litigation, administrative law, employment law, professional licensing, or complex counseling workPrior experience with medical staff law, peer review, credentialing, or hospital governance strongly preferredExcellent drafting, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and sound judgmentAdmission to the California Bar requiredCompensationExpected compensation for this role ranges from $175,000 – $230,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.About Direct CounselDirect Counsel specializes in connecting exceptional legal talent with leading law firms and corporate legal departments nationwide.
