The Role

The Barista is the face of our bar and one of the first people a guest meets at Isle of Us. You will prepare our coffee, matcha, tea and seasonal beverages to Isle of Us standards and deliver Passionate Hospitality to every guest. This is a guest-facing role on a team led by the Shift Leader, where you bring big smiles and high energy to every shift and exemplify our brand values of Sustainability, Community and Quality in everything you do.

What You'll Do

• Prepare every beverage to Isle of Us recipes and builds, including espresso drinks, hot brew, cold brew, matcha, teas and seasonal drinks, quickly and accurately.
• Follow the steps of service for every guest: greet warmly, take orders accurately and confirm modifiers and allergies.
• Primarily work the barista station and float between expo and POS stations when needed. 
• Take guest payments accurately in Toast and follow cash handling procedures.
• Package and bag pickup, take-out and 3rd-party app orders following the Packaging SOP.
• Complete bar prep to par (syrups, cold brew, teas, lemonade) and communicate when products or supplies are running low.
• Keep the bar, front of house and guest areas clean and the market stocked, and complete opening, closing, and cleaning checklists for your station.
• Bring guest complaints and issues to management promptly.
• Answer our phone and alleviate any concerns or answer questions that customers call with. 
• Help put away FOH and market deliveries, and assist with catering and event pack up when asked.
• Stay current on new menus, recipes and procedures, and complete all assigned training.

Requirements

• Barista experience required. 1 year minimum, with experience in high volume NYC cafes. 
• Strong communication skills and a warm, guest-first attitude.
• Comfortable working quickly and accurately in a high-volume service environment.
• NYC food handlers license, or ability to obtain one.
