Mortgage Underwriter I

Analyzing and independently underwriting moderately complex residential mortgage applications, the full-time Mortgage Underwriter I will work remotely to make sound credit decisions in accordance with investor and company guidelines while achieving production levels and maintaining accuracy. Key responsibilities Independently underwrite mortgage products and assess loan risk based on company policies and regulatory requirements Manage daily pipelines effectively, prioritizing tasks and collaborating with processors and loan officers Utilize automation tools to enhance efficiency and maintain compliance with underwriting guidelines Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred Two to six years of experience in mortgage underwriting at a credit union, bank, or financial institution Detailed knowledge of secondary market guidelines and some understanding of regulatory issues Compliance with Mortgage Loan Originator requirements set forth in the SAFE Act Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Encompass loan origination systems
