Field Service Technician

Field TechnicianA Field Technician is responsible for assisting in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service and troubleshooting of Vertiv electrical switchgear 480VAC/15KVAC, including PDU, ATS, PDC, circuit breakers, protective relays, PLC, meters and other automated devices as well as mechanical repairs and modifications under the direction of senior technicians. The FT is required to establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives and others as appropriate. The FT is also required to maintain continuous communication with CRC, Supervisor, and direct manager.Responsibilities:Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsPerform a variety of work related tasksCapable of working under general supervision but to a large degree independentlyMaintain certifications per Job Progression tableTechnical:Render on site and phone assistance to customers.Communicate with National Technical Support on equipment issuesPerform work related tasks according to company guidelines for scheduled maintenanceImplement Field Change Notices according to published guidelinesKeep current on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service TipsQualifications:Minimum Job Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED requiredASMETValid driver's license is requiredMechanical & Electrical aptitude2+ years of hands-on electronic experience or field services.Training in electrical theory and technologies.Familiarity with electrical / electronic test equipment and fundamentalsMust be able to read and interpret electrical line diagrams and blueprintsMust have ability to regularly lift at least 50 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusStandard computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and ExcelFoster a Customer-First MindsetPreferred Qualifications:ASEET – preferredPhysical & Environmental Demands:Medium Lifting (30 Ibs. – 45 Ibs.)Heavy Lifting (over 50 Ibs.)Frequent StandingFrequent kneeling / crawling / stoopingFrequent bending / twistingFrequent climbing (stairs, ladders)Frequent driving (car, van, truck)Extreme cold (below 32*)Extreme heat (above 100*)Noise Level (Medium / High need to shout to be heard)Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors)Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.)Work outdoors (no effective protection from weather)Time Travel Required:50%Due to the safety sensitive aspect of the role, candidates are required to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment.
