The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room provides specialized perioperative patient care, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes during surgical procedures. This role involves collaborating with surgical teams and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative nursing care to surgical patients.
- Assess patient needs, monitor vital signs, and manage anesthesia as applicable.
- Assist surgeons and surgical technologists during procedures, ensuring sterile techniques and proper instrument handling.
- Document patient information, procedures performed, and response to treatments accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Adhere to safety protocols, including infection control standards and equipment sterilization.
- Support patient education and preparedness before surgery, addressing concerns and answering questions.
- Hold an active RN license and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are preferred.
- Possess previous OR nursing experience, with familiarity in extensive surgical procedures.
- Demonstrate strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Have experience working with EMR systems, preferably Epic.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations within 30 minutes and stay prepared for rapid intervention.
- Gain valuable experience in a diverse and innovative surgical environment.
