To be successful, the individual must be able to manage multiple deadlines, have strong analytical skills, drive departmental process improvements, be detail oriented, display a high level of organizational skills, and remain flexible as the role continues to evolve.Job DetailsWe trust that as a Senior Accountant, you will: (responsibilities)Manage a high-volume monthly close across multiple divisions simultaneously, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules with hard deadlines each periodServe as the first level of review for staff accountant work product, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policy before escalation to the Regional ControllerPerform monthly account analysis and roll-forwards of selected general ledger accounts to ensure balances properly reflect the Company’s financial position in accordance with company policyReview ledger detail, record adjusting journal entries, and prepare supporting schedules for financial statementsSupport division communication and relationship management for an assigned group of divisions, handling day-to-day correspondence and resolving open items throughout the close as neededPrepare monthly financial reporting deliverables and support the Regional Controller with commentary and variance analysisEnsure compliance with accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, and SOX requirements; resolve accounting-related issues and escalate as appropriateReview land purchase and sale contracts and support land bank accounting for assigned divisions, ensuring proper accounting treatment is applied and preparing technical memos and audit documentation as neededProvide guidance and support to staff accountants within the scope of direct review of their workFocus on continuous improvement of established processes, controls, and documentationTake on additional responsibilities as the needs of the team and business evolveWhat you will need: (competencies, behaviors & attributes)AnalyticalCommunicationDecision MakingOrganizationProblem SolvingTeam PlayerAccountabilityAbout you:Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting3-5 years of relevant experience (public accounting or a corporate accounting/finance role)Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience operating within a SOX-compliant environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detailProficiency with common accounting and business software applicationsDemonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently within a team-oriented structurePreferred QualificationsCPA license or active CPA candidacyPrior experience in a multi-entity accounting environmentReal estate or homebuilding industry knowledgeFLSA Status: ExemptWill have responsibilities such as:Office or non-manual work, which is directly related to management or general business operationsAct as a primary component of which involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significanceEssential Functions:Successful job applicants will be able to perform these functions.
