Job Overview A law firm seeks a technology advisor or patent agent for their life sciences patent practice in Santa Monica, CA. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team focused on patent prosecution and counseling within the life sciences sector. Duties Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses. Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on prosecution, counseling, and litigation. Draft patent applications and responses to office actions. Participate in post-grant procedures at the USPTO. Requirements Ph.D. or M.D. with research experience in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field. Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills. Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology. Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others. Registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam. Education Ph.D. or M.D. in relevant scientific field. Certifications USPTO patent agent registration or eligibility. Skills Strong analytical and research skills. Excellent communication and drafting abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Benefits Healthcare and Life Insurance.
