Travel RN – Medical Surgical / Trauma

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 34-bed Medical Surgical / Trauma unit with a 6:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
• Prioritize and manage care for a diverse patient population, including trauma and post-surgical patients
• Perform IV insertions, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Operate and monitor unit equipment including IV pumps, telemetry, continuous pulse oximetry, PCA pumps, feeding pumps, EKG machines, and bladder scanners
• Document patient care accurately using the Meditech electronic documentation system
• Conduct bedside shift reports and engage patients and family members in individualized plans of care

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced trauma environment
• Willingness to float per unit policy; contract staff are first to float by rotation
• Compliance with required dress code: navy scrub tops and bottoms

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a trauma or acute care Medical Surgical setting
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic health record systems
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and chest tube management
