Overview Hiring Range: $59,924.80-$66,060.80 Starting salary may be adjusted depending on experience. Qualifications 1. Possession of law enforcement certification from Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) in any State; 2. Applicants possessing a State of Alabama POST Certification must be three (3) years or more past graduation date listed on APOST certificate; 3. Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit; 4. Ability to pass a thorough background check Preferred Qualification:
Fluent in Spanish Responsibilities Performs a variety of law enforcement duties in the preservation of public peace and prevention of crimes, including protecting life and property, enforcing all laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, making arrests, providing credible testimony in various courts, conducting traffic surveys to determine problem areas, assisting in school and community functions, as well as, public relations activities, and other cases as assigned. EMPLOYMENT PROCESS Police Officer candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be further screened through our evaluation process, which considers related work experience, education, certifications and special training. Police Officer candidate finalists will then be evaluated based on personal interviews. In order to be eligible for employment with the Hoover Police Department a candidate must successfully complete the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test. You can view the Physical Abilities/Agilities requirements at the following website - Go to Forms on the left side of the page then scroll to bottom of the page to access the Physical Agility Ability Course. Candidates will be informed of the date, time and location of the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test at a later date and only after successful completion of an interview or interviews. Due to the high volume of applications received, not all applicants will be selected for interviews and all that do interview are not guaranteed to be selected to participate in the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test.
