Senior Software Engineer

Sr. Software EngineerCBH is seeking an experienced Sr. Software Engineer with deep healthcare technology expertise to lead the design, development, integration, modernization, and support of enterprise healthcare applications and integration platforms.This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in healthcare EDI integrations, SQL Server development, Azure API technologies, and modern Python/Django-based application development.The individual will help guide technical direction, mentor development staff, coordinate operational support activities, and partner closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and IT leadership to deliver scalable and reliable healthcare technology solutions.This position will play a key role in supporting modernization initiatives, operational stability, interoperability, automation, and enterprise application integration efforts.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical LeadershipLead the design, development, enhancement, and support of enterprise healthcare applications and integration solutionsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to developers and technical staffAssist in establishing development standards, coding practices, SDLC processes, and technical governanceReview technical designs, code quality, and solution architectureSupport operational issue resolution and provide guidance during production incidentsCoordinate development priorities and technical assignments across the teamApplication Development & IntegrationDevelop and support healthcare EDI/X12 transaction processing including:Develop and optimize SQL Server databases, stored procedures, ETL processes, views, and reporting solutionsDesign and develop RESTful APIs leveraging Azure API Management and Azure cloud technologiesBuild and support Python/Django-based web applications and backend servicesSupport interoperability and healthcare data exchange initiatives involving APIs, EDI, and operational systemsTroubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, and data issuesSupport automation and modernization initiatives across the IT organizationCollaboration & OperationsPartner with Business Analysts, PMO teams, operational stakeholders, and vendors to gather requirements and deliver technical solutionsParticipate in architecture discussions, operational planning, and project delivery activitiesSupport change management, deployment planning, testing coordination, and release activitiesEnsure solutions align with security, compliance, and healthcare regulatory requirements including HIPAADocument technical architecture, workflows, APIs, support procedures, and operational processesParticipate in on-call support and operational escalation activities as neededRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience8+ years of software development experience5+ years of healthcare IT experiencePrior experience leading or mentoring technical teamsStrong experience with healthcare EDI/X12 transaction processing and integration workflowsStrong SQL Server and T-SQL development experienceExperience with Azure API Management and Azure integration technologiesStrong experience with Python and Django frameworksExperience designing and consuming RESTful APIsStrong understanding of SDLC, application architecture, and operational support processesStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience within Managed Care, Medicaid, Behavioral Health, Claims, Eligibility, or Population Health environmentsExperience with HL7/FHIR interoperability standardsExperience with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, or Data FactoryExperience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD automationExperience with cloud modernization initiativesExperience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologiesPrior leadership experience within healthcare application teamsTechnical SkillsRequired TechnologiesSQL ServerT-SQLPythonDjangoAzure API ManagementREST APIsHealthcare EDI/X12JSON/XMLGitPreferred TechnologiesHL7/FHIRAzure FunctionsAzure Logic AppsAzure Data FactoryPower BIDockerKubernetesDevOps / CI-CDPhiladelphia Residency Requirement:The successful candidate must be a current Philadelphia resident or become a resident within six months of hire.U.S. Authorization Requirement:CBH does not provide sponsorship for applicants requiring future work authorization.
