Wendy’s is hiring Shift Managers to oversee daily restaurant operations during their assigned shift. Position Overview The Shift Manager at Wendy’s is responsible for managing the front‑line team, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining operational efficiency, and supporting the management team in achieving business goals. This hands‑on leadership position requires excellent communication, problem‑solving, and multitasking skills. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Supervision Supervise and lead team members during the shift, ensuring effective and efficient performance. Provide coaching and feedback to improve performance and foster a positive team environment. Ensure the team is trained on company policies, procedures, and best practices. Delegate tasks to staff based on priorities and workflow, covering all restaurant areas. Customer Service Maintain high service standards and resolve customer complaints promptly. Monitor guest satisfaction, ensuring a positive impression for all customers. Lead by example in providing friendly, efficient service to guests. Operational Efficiency Oversee daily operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and cleaning procedures. Ensure food is prepared to Wendy’s quality standards and delivered on time. Monitor performance metrics such as speed of service, food quality, and cleanliness. Financial & Cash Handling Handle cash and register operations accurately, including opening/closing registers and counting cash. Assist in labor cost management by adjusting staffing levels as needed. Maintain adherence to company policies for handling cash, credit cards, and other payments. Staffing & Scheduling Manage breaks, meal periods, and shift coverage for staff. Step in to cover shifts or assist with additional tasks as required. Food Safety & Sanitation Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation. Monitor kitchen and dining areas for cleanliness and proper food storage. Prevent waste or contamination through proper storage and handling. Problem‑Solving & Decision Making Make quick, effective decisions in response to operational challenges, customer issues, or staff concerns. Resolve conflicts or issues among team members or customers, escalating to the Manager as needed. Communication & Reporting Communicate effectively with management, staff, and guests to ensure smooth operations. Report issues, equipment malfunctions, or significant occurrences to the Restaurant Manager. Provide feedback on employee performance and operational improvements. Skills & Qualifications Experience: Prior food service experience, preferably in a supervisory role; fast‑casual or quick‑service experience is a plus. Leadership: Strong leadership and people‑management skills. Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills and the ability to resolve complaints. Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills. Problem‑Solving: Ability to make quick, effective decisions. Multitasking: Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Attention to Detail: High level of attention to maintaining standards and meeting expectations. Job Requirements Stand for extended periods (4–8+ hours) with periodic breaks. Perform repetitive motions including chopping, stirring, carrying, and operating equipment. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, twisting, and reaching. Walk up and down stairs, use step ladder as needed. Occasional sitting, talking, and active listening. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, using proper lifting equipment or assistance. Move quickly and efficiently in the kitchen. Comply with food safety and sanitation regulations. Work Environment / Job Conditions Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work in a loud, fast‑paced environment. Regular exposure to varying temperature zones (hot kitchen areas, cold storage). Potential exposure to heat, noise, cleaning chemicals, and hot surfaces. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety training required. Awareness of temperature fluctuations and safe practices essential. Activities span indoor and outdoor settings, requiring adaptability. Outdoor tasks may include curbside delivery, trash maintenance, or exterior upkeep. Potential hazards such as hot surfaces, sharp objects, and wet floors.
