Before and After School Care Instructor Part Time - $500 SIGN ON BONUS - Tri County

Job Location: Tri County YMCA - Menomonee Falls, WI 53051 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $16.00 - $18.00 Hourly General Functions: Starting wage of $18 per hour for candidates with child care certifications. Under the direction of the Before and After School Care Site Supervisor and in accordance with association policies, the Y BASE instructor is responsible for coordinating daily activities and providing a safe and nurturing environment for school‑aged children to learn and play. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and actively participate in daily activities for youth before and after school to engage students and monitor safety during all times of the day. Serve as a role model to staff and Y BASE participants. Develop positive relationships with staff, families, and children while providing motivational support and guidance, caring interactions, and prompt service and maintaining appropriate communication. Maintain participant records and other documentation in accordance with department requirements. Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms. Follow the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County’s emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children, including communicating with supervisor regarding any emergency concerns or situations. Uphold the core values of the YMCA when working with people within the YMCA facilities and community. Follow all relevant regulations from the Department of Children and Families or other regulatory agencies. Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required. Other duties as necessary and as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have completed high school or equivalent. Must meet all school age licensing requirements, including completion of at least one course in school‑age growth and development within two months of hire. Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification, and additional non‑credit coursework as needed. Prior experience in a licensed early learning program is preferred. Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others. Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Work Environment and Physical Demands Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs., work indoors and outdoors, assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.
