Senior External Communications Specialist - Public Relations and Government Relations

Job Summary Senior External Communications Specialist (Public Relations and Government Relations) to execute strategic communication initiatives, plan content, manage media relations, government relations, and AI tool deployment for GDIT. Responsibilities Support the external communications strategy and execution, including planning, messaging, content creation, speaking opportunities, media relations, and government relations. Manage public relations, government and analyst relations, and awards and recognition program. Coordinate with marketing organization teams to align messaging, timing, and priorities. Manage projects, tasks, deadlines, and cross‑team collaboration. Deploy AI tools to increase efficiency in external communications activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, government, public policy, journalism, public relations, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, journalism, government, or public policy. Comfort engaging with trade reporters and media contacts in person and over the phone. Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and clarity. Familiarity with media monitoring tools and experience producing reports. Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Interest in federal government, defense, national security, technology, and workplace trends. Hybrid schedule: 3 days a week in Falls Church, VA headquarters office. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Asana or a similar project management platform. Experience with AI integration into workflows. Experience working in a government contracting or federal environment. Benefits Competitive salary range $93,662 - $100,050, depending on experience and location. Hybrid work options.
