Default Work Shift: Evenings (United States of America) Hours: 40 Salary range: $22.83 - $34.69 Schedule: Full Time Shift Hours: 8 Hour employee Department: Pharmacy Main Job Objective: Performs manipulative, repetitive non-discretionary tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist. Job Description: Education: Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree if hired after March 1, 2025 Preferred: Associate’s degree Licensure/Certification: Required: California Board of Pharmacy Technician (PHT) License Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician Experience: Preferred: Experience as Pharmacy Technician Reports To: Manager or Director Supervises: N/A Ages of Patients: Neonate/ Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric Blood Borne Pathogens: Minimal/ No Potential Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner, Ability to operate general office equipment (i.e., computer, printer, scanner, telephone, etc.), Ability to perform procedures and techniques relating to manufacturing, packaging, and labeling of drug products, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Basic math skills, Critical thinking skills, Knowledge and understanding of the identification of drugs, drug dosages, routes of administration, dosage forms and storage requirements, Knowledge of hospital Pharmacy operations, Knowledge of pharmaceutical storage, purchasing, preparation, transcription, delivery and return, Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing and record keeping of medications, Written and verbal communication skills Essential Responsibilities Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. Accepts and performs unassigned technician functions when requested. Applies department procedures for purchasing, storage, preparation, dispensing, transcription, delivery, and crediting medications. Applies department procedures to manufacturing, packaging, and labeling of drug products. Communicates to the purchasing agent unexpected low inventory levels in a timely manner. Completes hospital competency testing and Net Learning assignments on time. Manages controlled substances, in accordance with department procedures. Performs required documentation duties and recognizes generic/brand names. Follows through with Pharmacist instructions. Keeps working areas clean and orderly. Performs automatic dispensing cabinets inventory functions accurately as assigned in a timely manner. Performs calculations required for common dosage determination. Prepares unit-dose packages from bulk stock in accordance with departmental procedures. Promptly answers telephone calls using hospital scripting protocol. Provides telephone inquirers with timely information about storage, purchasing, preparation, transcription, dispensing, delivery and return question. Refers all clinical and pharmacologic inquires to a pharmacist. Performs other duties as assigned. Welcome to Eisenhower Health Careers!
