Job Type: PRN Pay: Negotiable with experience Position Summary To provide physical therapy services in compliance with laws and regulations applicable to this position and in accordance with the Corporate Compliance Program. The Physical Therapist is to perform patient care tasks under minimal supervision with advanced skills in clinical reasoning, problem-solving and treatment interventions. Evaluate and treat patients, and provide direction and supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants as indicated within the Texas licensing Board and American Physical Therapy Association scope of practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides direct customer care that meets department and professional standards of practice, including patient evaluation and assessment, development of physical therapy care plan, patient treatment, family/caregiver training and discharge planning. May serve as a clinician in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Examines, evaluates, and tests patients with mechanical, physiological and developmental impairments, functional limitations, and disability or other health and movement-related concerns. Determines diagnosis, prognosis, plan of therapeutic intervention and frequency/duration of intervention. Designs, implements, and modifies therapeutic interventions to alleviate movement-related impairments and functional limitations. Selects and administers appropriate assessment and treatment techniques. Evaluates for, recommends, applies and, as appropriate, prosthetic and supportive devices and equipment, and trains patients in their use. Participates in clinical teaching, including clinical instruction of physical therapy interns/students and other team members. Provides input regarding educational needs and mentors others as appropriate. Performs all necessary patient care documentation, including assessment, plan of care, progress notes, discharge summaries, and charges for evaluations. Documentation reflects patient status and participation in goal setting and care delivery. Discharges patient from treatment with appropriate discharge planning including equipment procurement and family training, and communicates this to the Recovery Care Coordinator. Schedules and maintains assigned caseload consistent with department productivity. Informs supervisor of issues related to patient care or caseload. Ensures documentation and billing are timely, accurate and complete. Initiates and participates in interdisciplinary care planning to meet patient and family needs, including rounds and care conferences. May contact community agencies to provide continuity of service between PureHealth and the community. Identifies needs for equipment repair or upgrade to maintain quality of care. Makes recommendations for equipment and supplies. Attends and participates in in-service training. Regular walking to various locations around the facility is required. Team members may come into contact with patients who have contagious illnesses and must adhere to the facility’s no-smoking policy. Physical Demands The role is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.
