Job Summary This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients. Experience – 1 year of RN experience; specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care. Licenses and Certifications – Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license under the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) and current BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Preferred Education – Bachelor’s Degree (BSN). Licenses and Certifications – Professional certification in a nursing organization. Job Duties Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, considering age‑specific criteria. Anticipates patient and family needs, utilizing assessment findings to develop appropriate care plans. Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions; accurately documents interventions and serves as a coordinator of interdisciplinary care. Prioritizes interventions, identifies changes in condition, reports changes, and involves patients in their care plans. Evaluates implemented interventions, modifies care accordingly, and documents updates promptly. Adheres to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nationally accepted standards, incorporating ANA standards and the shared governance model. Provides timely answers and education to patients, families, and caregivers; documents all education and assesses competence. Welcomes and orients patients and families; encourages participation, reviews care plans, explains protocols, and communicates round times. Advocates for resources that enhance patient safety and unit/hospital initiatives; participates in data evaluation for budget decisions. Performs peer evaluations, holds coworkers accountable, and actively intervenes when patient safety is at risk. Participates in performance improvement initiatives such as patient safety, satisfaction, core measures, and infection control. Shares professional and technical information with colleagues and students; offers mentorship when needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
