Part-Time Associate Estimator C&I

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Part-time Associate Estimator C&I is responsible for performing various tasks within project cost estimation for commercial/industrial electrical construction. Responsibilities include assisting in developing accurate, competitive, and profitable bid proposals. Company Overview Since 1912, Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. Sturgeon Electric has two divisions, offering both powerline construction and commercial/industrial electrical construction, making it a full-service electrical provider. Sturgeon Electric's Commercial and Industrial C&I electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance to clients. We also offer design-build and pre-construction services and has in-house pre-fabrication and AutoCAD capabilities. Essential Functions Assist and/or prepare estimates per MYR Group policies and procedures, by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and input into estimating software Attend pre-bid meetings and determine constructability requirements per proposal documents Review proposal specifications and drawings to evaluate scope of work and required contents of estimate Understand scope of work to ensure estimate accuracy, as well as completing prior to deadlines Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages, including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, supplies, and schedule Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holders After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures Regular and predictable attendance Other duties as assigned Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications Ability to understand, and/or possess basic knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services Preferred Education High school diploma or GED Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Analytical and organizational skills Good communication skills, including verbal and written Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
