Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting operations of a food and beverage manufacturing facility in the Mount Laurel, NJ area. This role will assist with month-end close, general ledger activities, product costing, inventory accounting, financial analysis, and manufacturing accounting processes.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on accounting experience within a food and beverage manufacturing environment, strong product costing and inventory accounting knowledge, excellent Excel skills, and experience with backflushing processes. Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly accounting close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Perform product costing and related financial analysis, primarily using Microsoft Excel.
• Maintain and analyze inventory-related accounting records and transactions.
• Support inventory reconciliation and backflushing processes.
• Research and resolve accounting, costing, and inventory discrepancies.
• Analyze product costs, manufacturing variances, and inventory activity.
• Support general ledger activities and ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Utilize JD Edwards (JDE) to review and maintain accounting and inventory information.
• Work closely with accounting, finance, and plant operations teams.
• Assist with financial reporting, audits, and special accounting projects as needed.
• Travel occasionally to another plant as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience
• Previous Staff Accountant, Cost Accountant, Plant Accountant, or similar accounting experience.
• Food and beverage manufacturing experience required.
• Strong experience with product costing and inventory accounting.
• Knowledge of backflushing processes strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) or a similar ERP system preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet accounting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both accounting and plant operations teams.
• Comfortable working in a casual, personable, and collaborative environment.

Additional Details

• Fully on-site
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Contract Length: 6 months
• Travel: Occasional travel to another plant required
