JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinician supports a nonprofit agency dedicated to serving children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in educational and residential settings. This role is responsible for providing therapeutic services—including individual, group, and family therapy—to individuals receiving residential or community-based supports. The Clinician develops and coordinates clinical treatment plans, conducts psychosocial assessments, and works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure person-centered, comprehensive care. Additional responsibilities include intake support, clinical documentation, discharge planning, and active communication with families, external providers, and community stakeholders to promote continuity of care and long-term success.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Adelbrook is a 24/7 operating Agency. Schedules are flexible, may include early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, mandated overtime, mandated holds, and on call responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in intake and admission processes, including clinical screenings and coordination with internal teams.
• Complete psychosocial assessments and develop individualized, strengths-based treatment plans.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed therapy services to individuals and their families. • Collaborate with residential, educational, medical, and community-based staff to ensure consistent implementation of treatment strategies.
• Facilitate treatment team meetings and participate in clinical and administrative reviews.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
• Act as the clinical point of contact for families/guardians, schools, and external agencies.
• Support implementation of behavior plans and provide consultation to direct care staff.
• Participate in discharge planning and coordination of follow-up services.
• Provide clinical coverage during assigned on-call shifts.
• Maintain compliance with licensing, accreditation, and documentation standards.
• Contribute to staff training and development initiatives as needed.
• Uphold professional, ethical, and trauma-informed practices in all interactions.
• Maintain active certification in agency-approved crisis intervention training, including all required levels of Physical and Psychological Management Training (PMT). Apply training techniques appropriately to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals served, staff, and others in the environment. Demonstrate competency in de-escalation strategies, safe physical interventions, and adherence to agency protocols.

• Time management, organizational, and documentation skills. Crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Clinical understanding of trauma, developmental and intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and family systems.
• Familiarity with behavioral health systems, service coordination, and therapeutic interventions for youth and young adults.
• Knowledge of treatment planning, clinical assessments, and electronic health record systems.
• Awareness of applicable regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, licensing, accreditation bodies).
ABILITIES:
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and model trauma-informed care.
• Capacity to engage families and external stakeholders in the treatment process.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining clinical quality and compliance.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICTIONS:
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Clinical license or license-eligibility preferred (e.g., LMSW, LMFTA, LPC-A).
• Two (2) or more years of experience working with children, adolescents, or young adults in behavioral health or direct care settings preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism and/or IDD is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and maintaining documentation to professional standards.
•Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet transportation requirements as needed.
• Ability to complete and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, crisis intervention).
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Work is performed in residential, clinical, or community-based settings.
• May involve crisis response and physical intervention in accordance with training.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist individuals with daily living activities.
• Ability to be on feet for extended periods and participate in recreational or community-based activities with residents
• Perform all requirements of physical management techniques (PMT)
• Exposure to behaviors that may require de-escalation or intervention
