Responsibilities: Represent clients in criminal defense cases, ensuring their rights are protected and their voices are heard. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to build strong defense strategies tailored to each client's unique situation. Collaborate with our team to prepare and present compelling arguments in court, advocating passionately for clients. Maintain open and clear communication with clients, keeping them informed and involved throughout the legal process. Negotiate effectively with prosecutors to secure favorable plea deals or dismissals when appropriate. Draft and file legal documents, motions, and briefs with precision and attention to detail. Stay updated on changes in criminal law and legal precedents to provide informed advice and representation to clients. Qualifications: First, the Non-Negotiables We list these up front, out of respect for your time. You must have all three: • Active North Carolina Bar license, in good standing, authorized to practice criminal law in NC. This role cannot consider attorneys who are not licensed in North Carolina. • 5+ years of criminal litigation, with significant courtroom and trial experience. • Full alignment with our core values (below) — we hire for them as seriously as we hire for skill. A strong plus: fluent Spanish. Many of the clients are Spanish-speaking, and the ability to build trust in their language will set you apart. If that's you, keep reading.
