In School Suspension Supervisor / Academic Success Aide, GMMS

Job Summary

The In School Suspension Supervisor / Academic Success Aide supports student success by supervising the In School Suspension (ISS) program while providing academic and behavioral support to students throughout the school day. This position helps maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive learning environment that encourages accountability, positive behavior, and academic progress. The individual will work collaboratively with administrators, counselors, teachers, students, and families to support student growth and success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In School Suspension Supervision
  • Supervise students assigned to In School Suspension in a structured and consistent environment.
  • Monitor student behavior and maintain expectations for respect, responsibility, and productivity.
  • Ensure students complete assigned academic work during ISS.
  • Communicate with teachers regarding assignments, student progress, and behavioral concerns.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, behavior, and assignment completion records for ISS students.
  • Reinforce school expectations and assist students in reflecting on behaviors and making positive choices.
  • Follow district and school policies regarding student discipline and confidentiality.
Academic Success Support
  • Provide academic assistance and encouragement to students needing additional support.
  • Assist students with organization, time management, study skills, and assignment completion.
  • Support interventions designed to improve student attendance, behavior, and academic performance.
  • Work with administrators, counselors, and teachers to identify students needing additional support.
  • Monitor and encourage student engagement and academic progress throughout the school day.
  • Assist with tutoring, homework help, or intervention periods as assigned.
Student Support and School Assistance
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations.
  • Help de-escalate student conflicts and support restorative practices when appropriate.
  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, study hall, or other assigned areas as needed.
  • Support school wide behavior and attendance initiatives.
