Position Overview

This role involves leading and coordinating unit staffing while ensuring the achievement of clinical goals and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct, educate, and supervise nursing and support staff during assigned shifts, contributing to performance evaluations.
• Assess daily patient care requirements and allocate assignments to ensure appropriate care is provided.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify issues impacting desired outcomes.
• Address patient care complaints through established protocols.
• Provide input on hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and adhere to safety protocols.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
• Experience: Minimum of one year as a registered nurse.

Physical Demands

• Frequent verbal communication and interaction with others.
• Constant standing and walking.
• Regular lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
• Regular use of vision for near and far distances, as well as color differentiation.
• Frequent use of smell for odor recognition.
• Regular auditory communication and detection of alarms or machinery sounds.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements.
• Rarely involves crawling or running.

Licensure and Certifications Required

Depending on the state of work location, the following certifications are required:

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) - State-specific licensing body
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) - AHA or equivalent pediatric/neonatal certifications.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts and is classified as an employee role within the Progressive Care Unit.

Weekly Hours

Scheduled for 36 hours per week.
