The Finance Department of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is currently seeking an Accountant to join their team. This person will be responsible for journal entries, ledger maintenance, reconciliation of receivables and payables, inventory and fixed assets management, providing backup to other team members, maintaining records and files, providing assistance and support to tribal members, employees, and other departments, providing audit support, and other duties as assigned.

Candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, good work ethic, attention to detail, should be deadline-oriented and flexible.

Duties to include:

• Review employee timecards, timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll-related information for accuracy and completeness.
• Identify missing, inconsistent, or incorrect payroll information and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate department or supervisor.
• Process payroll adjustments, including corrections, and other payroll changes as directed.
• Review payroll reports and assist in identifying discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
• Assist with payroll-related audits and provide documentation as requested.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll files and documentation.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, timekeeping, direct deposit, and other routine payroll matters.
• Research payroll discrepancies and work with the Payroll Manager to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee compensation, personal information, tax information, and other sensitive payroll data.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Computer proficiency is required. Knowledge of ACCPAC is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years working experience as a full-charge accountant required.

The Tribe’s Administrative Office is located 25 Miles West of the Florida Turnpike on SW 8th Street (a/k/a Tamiami Trail) (US Hwy 41, MM 37.5) on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation, Miami-Dade County. The Tribe offers a full benefits package and competitive salary.
