Under supervision of assigned teacher/supervisor, assists in carrying out instructional program and enhances the learning environment support of student learning and effective instruction.

Qualifications 1. Associate degree or highly qualified according to CDE licensing requirements 2. Excellent human relation skills and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately with respect, diplomacy, and sensitivity, guarding the dignity of each individual. 3. Successful experience working with children 4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, parents and staff 5. Organizational skills to complete tasks responsibly. 6. Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work with a variety of people and circumstances 7. Ability to effectively use educational technology and skill in work processing and computer applications

Job Goals: To assist the teacher to achieve teaching objectives by working with individual student to help them gain the skill levels of the class as a whole, supporting the instructional process.

Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Works with only assigned student to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher 2. Reports with assigned student to recess, lunch, specials and any other activities 3. Assists the teacher in division special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual student, their needs, interests, and abilities 4. Administers, scores, and records formative and summative assessments, achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for assigned student 5. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes 6. Helps assigned student master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher 7. Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction 8. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work setup and assigned by the teacher 9. Assists with the supervision of assigned student during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips and bus routes as needed. 10. Assists in the physical maintenance of the classroom such as: a. Maintaining classroom facilities and materials b. Preparing and supervising work areas c. Arranging learning centers 11. Assists assigned student in the library or media center 12. Helps assigned student with their self-care tasks and supervises them whenever needed such as playground, busing, cafeteria, transition periods, and toileting 13. Helps assigned student with their clothing 14. Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines 15. Assists with wash-up and toilet routines of assigned student 16. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about assigned student 17. When appropriate, participates in staffings of assigned student 18. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher 19. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers 20. Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned 21. Administers minor first aid 22. Bilingual aides serve as a liaison between parents, teachers and students 23. Assists with the mobility of assigned student, including elevator, if applicable implements new learning from staff development opportunities and adopts updated strategies and expectations to support ongoing district and school improvement initiatives 24. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the teacher or Principal

Terms of Employment 1. Number of days as per contract 2. Salary and benefits as per Board policy
