About Us

Blue Sky Beginnings is hiring a full-time Lead Teacher (Provider equivalent/DELC Assistant II, not assistant I level) to join our team. We are a relationship-centered childcare program known for high-quality care, strong routines, and a supportive team culture. We are a Certified In-Home Daycare in Garden home open M-F from 7:00am to 5:30pm. Our kiddos' ages range from infancy to preschool age. We follow all Oregon Department of Early Learning Rules & Guidelines.

This role entails becoming a member of our team as a teacher, but has the potential for advancement and expansion based on what you’re willing to put into it.

This schedule is subject to change based on children’s schedules, our facilities needs, and your strengths.

Key Responsibilities

• Classroom maintenance & Cleanliness: Keeping the childcare environment clean, organized, and safe, including but not limited to sanitizing toys and surfaces. This requirement is at the top of this list for a reason. As an assistant your attention to detail while cleaning is of the utmost importance. If invited for an interview, please be prepared to explain your experience with cleaning and how you might tackle a list of “chores” around the house.
• Child supervision & Safety: Actively monitoring children during playtime, transitions, and mealtimes to ensure their safety and prevent accidents. This entails multi-tasking, strategically prioritizing tasks, and being acutely aware of all the children’s varying needs.
• Basic needs care: This role is all encompassing. You can expect to support preparing lunch, running meal and snack times, and bottle feeding the youngsters. You will support changing diapers, assisting with toileting, and maintaining proper hygiene practices.
• Observation & Documentation: Regularly observing children's behavior, development, and progress, and updating our Brightwheel app throughout the day. We provide real time updates for each child related to naps, food, activities -including photos-, etc. in our Brightwheel app.
• USDA(KidKare) Management: Update and keep current all required documentation and daily submittal of provided meals.
• Emergency response: Follow established emergency procedures in case of accidents or medical situations. The safety of our children should always be in the forefront of your mind while at Blue Sky.

Required Skills & Qualities

• Compassion & Patience: Ability to provide gentle and supportive care to children with diverse needs. Understanding that teachers, children, and families all have different needs that develop and change as we grow, learn, and have new experiences.
• Effective communication: Clear and open communication with children, parents, and other staff members.

We are very close to all of our kiddos. We treat them all with respect and love while using developmentally appropriate language.

Our daily communication with families is through our Brightwheel app. As you learn and get up to speed on the families, you will have the opportunity to build your own relationships with parents and support drop off and pick ups.

We are a very transparent group, you can expect to communicate through text and in-person frequently.

• Observation skills : Keen ability to monitor children's behavior and identify potential issues or changes. Articulate and document routine activities, larger areas for improvement, and overall highlights/achievements at an individual level.
• Developmental understanding: Knowledge of child development stages and appropriate activities for different age groups. You will be required to learn, maintain, and even contribute ideas to enhance our Brightwheel application, curriculum, and daily activities for kids from infancy to preschool age.
• Flexibility and adaptability: Ability to adjust plans based on children's needs and unexpected situations. While we follow a general daily routine, we do not treat children like robots, and tailor our days to the needs of the collective group.

You will also need to be flexible when it comes to your own schedule. Blue Sky posts staff schedules at least one month in advance, if not more, but because of the nature of our industry, things always have the potential to change.

• Reliability and Commitment: This role is a permanent role with the opportunity to transition to full time. We want to create an environment of consistency with our children and families. Because we offer care from infancy to preschool, we want to build and maintain relationships that have the potential to last 5 years and more!

Required Training and Education

The following requirements must be met in order to be eligible for employment. If there are any requirements you do not have, we will be happy to support your efforts to obtain it within the state required time limit.

Upon Hire Date:

• Enrollment and verification through the CBR Registry
• Background knowledge of child development and general care
• Food Handler’s Card
• 21+ years old

Within 30 Days of Hire Date:

• RRCAN
• ICCHS
• Safe Sleep
• Completed Orientation

Within 90 Days of Hire Date:

• Pediatric CPR and First Aid
• Foundations of Learning
