Controls Designer

BD seeks a Controls Designer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of automation and control systems for sterilization operations. The role serves as site technical authority for industrial controls, machine vision, and SCADA systems while mentoring technical staff and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, commission, and validate automation and control systems for sterilization operations
- Mentor Controls Specialists and technical personnel while developing organizational technical capability
- Lead multiple automation capital projects from concept through implementation and post-launch support
- Provide expert troubleshooting and drive process improvements for safety, quality, and equipment reliability
- Ensure automation systems comply with regulatory standards and remain validated throughout their lifecycle
Requirements
- Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, automation technology, mechatronics, or related field
- Minimum five years designing, programming, and supporting industrial automation systems
- Experience leading technical projects in manufacturing environments
- Expertise with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and machine vision applications
- Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations and ISO 13485 requirements
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities for complex automation systems
