Stantec Consulting Services

Stantec’s New Haven Landscape Architecture Studio is seeking a Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will take a key role in advancing design, coordinating interdisciplinary teams, and supporting project delivery from concept through construction.

Stantec is an award-winning, multidisciplinary, international design practice consistently ranked among the top A/E/C firms. Our global network provides extensive technical resources, while our New Haven studio operates as a collaborative, close-knit design environment. Our team of landscape architects works within a broader practice of design professionals across the Northeast, delivering waterfronts, streetscapes, parks, plazas, campuses, greenways, and ecological systems.

Our work integrates design and engineering across critical topics including climate resilience, green infrastructure, equity in public space, and community engagement.

Your Opportunity

Working within Stantec’s New Haven Landscape Architecture studio, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects across the public realm. You will contribute to all project phases—from concept design through construction—while taking increasing responsibility for technical execution, team coordination, and project delivery.

You will collaborate closely with landscape architects, engineers, architects, and planners to advance design solutions that are both conceptually strong and technically sound. This role provides the opportunity to lead portions of projects, guide junior staff, and contribute to the delivery of projects throughout Connecticut and the broader Northeast region.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or significantly contribute to project design from concept through construction documentation

  • Manage the preparation of contract drawings, specifications, and presentation materials

  • Coordinate closely with internal and external multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and planners

  • Participate in and help lead client meetings, agency coordination, and project presentations

  • Oversee technical delivery and support project quality through Stantec’s QA/QC processes

  • Support construction administration, including shop drawing review, submittal tracking, and site observation

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff within the studio

  • Contribute to proposal efforts and support ongoing business development activities, as appropriate

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated passion for landscape architecture and the design of the public realm

  • Strong design, site analysis, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate concepts into buildable solutions

  • Advanced understanding of technical design, detailing, and documentation

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and navigating complex project requirements

  • Familiarity with municipal and state agency standards, permitting processes, and regulatory frameworks in Connecticut and the Northeast

  • Experience in construction administration and field observation

  • Strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Rhino (or comparable 3D modeling tools)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute to project delivery schedules

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program

  • Professional licensure (or active pursuit of licensure)

  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience

  • Experience delivering public realm projects, including parks, streetscapes, campuses, or waterfronts

  • Valid Driver's License
