Job Description Summary This Advisor role will be focused on System Quality Improvement projects (as opposed to patient safety or regulatory work). The advisor role plans, supports, monitors and directs multidisciplinary projects across OhioHealth to drive Quality and Safety improvement projects. Works to support and direct OhioHealth System-wide compliance related to quality, safety and regulatory (e.g., CMS, Departments of Health, specialty accreditation) requirements. Translates quality, safety and regulatory data into meaningful information and effectively communicates critical information to leadership and other key stakeholders to improve decision making and performance. Provides high quality project management and analysis for a broad array of clinical and operational issues. Forms effective working relationships with cross-functional partners, including hospital leadership, service line leadership, and clinical guidance councils. Applies health system-specific expertise, industry best practices and knowledge of internal and external performance challenges to recommend and lead improvements. Responsibilities And Duties 20% Functional Knowledge Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in process improvement, change management, team facilitation and regulatory management. Leads and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to identify, plan, and implement process and improvement initiatives for regulatory readiness and compliance. Collects and analyses process data to initiate, develop and recommend practices and procedures that focus on quality improvement, safety, regulatory and cost. Interprets and executes operational processes to ensure regulatory compliance. Maintains strong and productive relationships with key stakeholders, C-suite, Service Line, CGC, Physicians and Front Line Staff. Mentors system accreditation peer member’s and quality teams on performance improvement tools and methodologies. 15% Business Expertise Directs best practice initiatives regarding regulatory and safety requirements, and risk mitigation strategies to provide value to the organization. Interprets internal/external regulatory demands, culture of the institution and the impact of these on the organization and the value proposition. Understands the needs, expected benefits, and alignment of quality, safety and regulatory improvement projects to the organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business priorities. 20% Leadership: Directs and or leads functional teams or projects with high resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Ensures that all local, State and Federal standards related to licensure, are met and maintained. Mentors and develops system quality, safety and accreditation teams regarding Evidence Based Practice (EBP), quality initiatives, regulatory demands, and performance improvement tools. Promotes and leads a culture of continuous improvement that leads to sustained results and optimal performance. 15% Problem Solving: Directs and mentors’ others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions. Designs and develops standardized quality, safety and accreditation related auditing tools across the system Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to effectively analyse problems and develop well-reasoned solutions, recognizes and validates assumptions, collects information and draws meaningful inferences. 10% Impact: Uses change management processes and techniques to engage people in support of the change required to achieve regulatory performance improvement outcomes. Builds awareness of the need for change and helps people effect the needed change. Uses meaningful measurement tools to prove the need for improvement, make changes, and measure return on investment. 20% Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop, effective relationships with a broad variety of people from diverse backgrounds Excellent interpersonal or organizational skills necessary to present and communicate complex information effectively through all levels of the organization. Leads to build consensus and recognizes strengths and capabilities of others to maximize the execution of Quality and Safety projects. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated skills in change management, process improvement and large-scale program implementation. Knowledge of statistics, data analysis and workflow redesign. Knowledge of Federal and state regulatory guidelines and requirements and accrediting organizations’ standards. Understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, standard’s organizational structure, and information systems used in accreditation activity. Knowledge of health care business operations, design and management of EPIC, and project management processes Experience working with interprofessional teams or complex groups in the facilitation or coordination role, use of a range of quality improvement tools and techniques.
