Position Summary

TFC Recycling is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily hauling and field operations. This position is responsible for ensuring drivers, trucks, routes, and service requirements are effectively managed so that daily operations are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule .

The Operations Supervisor will provide hands‑on leadership to drivers and operational staff while maintaining a strong focus on safety, productivity, regulatory compliance, employee accountability, and customer service. The position may also provide oversight to Dispatch, Scalehouse, and other administrative support staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily hauling and field operations.
• Assign drivers, trucks, keys, routes, work orders, and additional pickups based on operational needs.
• Develop and coordinate route plans for assigned lines of business.
• Brief drivers on daily priorities, service issues, special stops, access requirements, and other operational concerns.
• Monitor drivers and trucks throughout the workday, including locations, delays, downtime, breaks, and route progress.
• Ensure missed stops and service issues are addressed and resolved promptly.
• Ensure drivers properly check in following completion of their routes.
• Train, coach, and supervise employees in accordance with operational, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct accident and injury investigations.
• Administer progressive disciplinary actions and conduct employee performance evaluations.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve service-related concerns.
• Maintain positive customer relationships and ensure service commitments are met.
• Ensure hauling operations comply with DOT, FMCSA, company safety policies, and applicable government regulations .
• Conduct safety training and promote a strong culture of safety and accountability.
• May oversee Dispatch and/or Scalehouse employees and required operational reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience .
• Previous supervisory or management experience within the transportation, logistics, hauling, waste/recycling, or similar industry strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of hauling regulations, safety standards, and route planning.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to organize, delegate, coach, and hold employees accountable.
• Ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers, and management.
• Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage changing daily priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; experience with logistics or routing systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of local roads and highways preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

The underlying job description requires at least three years of supervisory experience and specifically identifies transportation/logistics supervisory experience, hauling regulations, safety standards, and route planning as important experience for the position.

Work Environment & Schedule

This is an operations‑focused position that requires flexibility based on daily route and service needs. The typical workday begins at approximately 6 :00 a.m. and continues until route completion . The position may require occasional work outdoors and in varying weather, temperature, and operational conditions.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience.
