Pharmacist – Part-Time
Classification: Exempt Reports to: Pharmacy Manager Schedule: 16 hours per week, with a regular schedule of 8 hours on Tuesday and 8 hours on Thursday, plus occasional additional coverage hours as needed to support the full-time Pharmacist.
Position Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for supporting safe, effective, and patient-centered pharmacy services. This position reviews and dispenses medications, provides medication counseling and clinical drug information, ensures compliance with applicable pharmacy laws and regulations, and works closely with providers, nursing staff, pharmacy technicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
This is a part-time position scheduled for 16 regular hours each week, with additional coverage opportunities as needed for vacation, leave, or other absences of the full-time Pharmacist.
Essential Functions
- Review and interpret medication orders and prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosing, drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, incompatibilities, and other potential medication-related concerns.
- Dispense prescription medications in accordance with organizational policies and all applicable federal and Washington State laws and regulations.
- Counsel patients regarding medication use, dosage, administration, side effects, precautions, and other relevant information.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medication profiles and pharmacy records.
- Ensure medications are properly labeled, stored, handled, and distributed in accordance with established policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain appropriate controls and documentation for controlled substances and other regulated medications.
- Provide medication and drug information to physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals, including information regarding dosing, interactions, compatibility, and formulary alternatives.
- Review and verify work completed by Pharmacy Technicians and other authorized pharmacy support staff.
- Supervise Pharmacy Technicians as assigned and provide appropriate guidance, training, and oversight.
- Assist with medication inventory, medication storage, medication returns, and emergency medication needs.
- Participate in clinical pharmacy activities, including medication monitoring, antibiotic stewardship, pharmacokinetic consultation, and other clinical programs as appropriate.
- Support the organization's 340B Drug Pricing Program, including compliance with applicable federal requirements, organizational policies, patient eligibility requirements, inventory controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
- Maintain working knowledge of 340B rules and regulations and assist in identifying and preventing diversion, duplicate discounts, and other potential compliance concerns.
- Support quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance activities within the pharmacy.
- Participate in staff education and in-service training when requested.
- Maintain professional knowledge and competency through continuing education, professional development, and compliance with Washington State pharmacist licensing requirements.
- Maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with patients, providers, staff, and community partners.
- Provide additional pharmacist coverage as needed to support the full-time Pharmacist, including coverage for planned or unexpected absences.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position may provide supervision and professional oversight to Pharmacy Technicians and other pharmacy support staff in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Work Environment
This position operates in a healthcare and pharmacy setting and involves regular interaction with patients, providers, clinical staff, and pharmacy personnel. The position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, and movement throughout the pharmacy workspace.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, communicate verbally, hear, and use visual acuity necessary to safely review medications, prescriptions, labels, and patient information. The employee must be able to distinguish colors, shapes, and medication markings as required for safe pharmacy practice.
Required Education and Experience
Education:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Licensure:
- Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of Washington.
Experience:
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
- Prior work experience with PioneerRx strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working in a community health center, nonprofit healthcare organization, FQHC, or similar setting preferred.
- Experience working with the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including knowledge of applicable 340B rules, regulations, compliance requirements, and audit standards, strongly preferred.
Skills:

Schedule
This is a part-time position averaging 16 regularly scheduled hours per week:
- Tuesday: 8 hours
- Thursday: 8 hours
