Spiritual Enrichment Coordinator

The Spiritual Enrichment Coordinator at Forest Lake Education Center is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for the spiritual development and integration of faith within the school community. This position involves overseeing various aspects of campus ministry, including worship coordination, spiritual leadership and discipleship development, service programming, pastoral care, bible curriculum support, and fostering partnerships with local churches.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

• Degree in theology, education, or a related field (preferred).
• Strong commitment to personal faith and Christian values, with a passion for nurturing the spiritual development of children and adolescents.
• Previous experience in campus ministry, educational leadership, or pastoral ministry roles, with a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire others.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including teachers, students, parents, and church leaders.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of curriculum development principles, teaching methodologies, and age-appropriate faith formation practices.
• Additional Information : This position requires a flexible schedule, including occasional evening or weekend events. The Spiritual Enrichment Coordinator reports to the school administration and collaborates closely with teachers, staff, students, and external partners to foster a vibrant and spiritually enriching campus environment.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Departmental Leadership and Strategic Planning:
   • Develop and articulate the yearly spiritual theme for the school, aligning it with the mission and values of the institution and integrating it into all aspects of campus life and programing.
   • Chair the strategic planning committee for spiritual enrichment, guiding collaborative efforts to assess current needs, set goals, and develop action plans for enhancing spiritual growth and community engagement.
   • Attend weekly administrative meetings, actively contributing insights, updates, and recommendations related to spiritual programming, campus culture, and student well-being.
   • Provide oversight and direction to both the spiritual enrichment assistant and student spiritual leaders, delegating tasks, providing support and feedback, and ensuring alignment with ministry objectives and priorities.
2. Spiritual Leadership Development and Discipleship:
   • Design and oversee the spiritual leadership elective for middle school students, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and character development necessary to serve as leaders and role models within the school community.
   • Mentor and disciple student leaders, providing opportunities for growth in areas such as public speaking, worship leading, service projects, and peer-to-peer ministry.
   • Coordinate leadership training sessions, retreats, and experiential learning opportunities to empower students to live out their faith in practical ways.
3. Worship Coordination and Spiritual Programming:
   • Assume ultimate responsibility for planning, coordinating, and facilitating weekly staff worship sessions, ensuring a spiritually enriching and uplifting experience for faculty and staff.
   • Assume ultimate responsibility for organizing and leading weekly chapel services for elementary (PreK-4) and middle school (grades 5-8) students, incorporating engaging elements such as music, interactive teaching, and student involvement.
   • Assume ultimate responsibility for planning, coordinating, and executing special events (such as week of prayer, special chapels, and possibly retreats), that promote faith formation, community building, and character development among students.
   • Collaborate with teachers, students, and guest speakers to design chapel themes, messages, and activities that promote spiritual growth, character development, and community building.
4. Service Programming:
   • Assume ultimate responsibility for identifying and establishing partnerships with local non-profit organizations, fostering relationships for service opportunities and projects aligned with the school's mission and values.
   • Assume ultimate responsibility for planning and coordinating service projects, drives, and volunteer initiatives that allow students to actively participate in serving their community and making a positive impact.
5. Spiritual Care and Nurture:
   • Provide compassionate pastoral care and support to students, faculty, and staff, offering spiritual guidance, counseling, and prayer as needed.
   • Create a nurturing and supportive environment where individuals feel safe to share their concerns, struggles, and joys, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
   • Collaborate with school counselors to address complex pastoral and mental health needs effectively.
6. Bible Curriculum and Teacher Support:
   • Encourage and support the implementation of a comprehensive Bible curriculum (Encounter) in a way that aligns with the school's mission, educational standards, and age-appropriate learning objectives.
   • Provide guidance and support to teachers in effectively integrating biblical principles and Christian values across the bible curriculum, including lesson planning, instructional strategies, and assessment methods.
   • Conduct training sessions and workshops as needed for teachers to enhance their understanding of biblical content, pedagogy, and faith development practices.
7. Community Engagement and Church Partnerships:
   • Cultivate relationships with pastors and leaders of constituent churches, fostering partnerships and collaboration opportunities that support the spiritual life of students and families.
   • Invite pastors to participate in campus activities, such as speaking at chapel services, leading Bible studies, or meeting with students to provide spiritual guidance and mentorship.
   • Facilitate communication and collaboration between the school and local churches, promoting joint initiatives, service projects, and outreach efforts that benefit the broader community.
