Registered Nurse - Observation Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (06:00 - 18:00).

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Observation Unit. The nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals who are held in the ER for observation. This position requires a strong foundation of clinical skills to manage a range of acute medical conditions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Observation Unit.
• Monitor patient vitals and manage treatment protocols.
• Administer medications and perform necessary clinical procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
• Evaluate patient conditions and document care outcomes in electronic health records.
• Assist patients with any physical or emotional needs during their stay.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse license in California (valid and in hand).
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC certifications preferred.
• 1 year of nursing experience required; charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience with Epic charting system is advantageous.
• Comfortable floating between units as needed.

Patient Care Details

• Daily census of 105 patients.
• 20 rooms with 26 beds available in the unit.
• Expected to manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 4:1.
