Job Description The Controller will be responsible for the integrity of the company’s financial reporting and control environment while serving as a key partner to management. This individual will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting; treasury and cash management; borrowing-base and covenant compliance; tax reporting; lease portfolio accounting and analytics; audits; and the accounting team. The role requires someone who can operate strategically while remaining close enough to the details to understand the economics, accounting, and risk profile of an equipment finance portfolio. Worksite Location South Metro Roles & Responsibilities Own the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. Prepare internal financial statements and provide meaningful analysis of company performance, lease portfolio metrics, and operating results. Lead quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement audit in partnership with the company’s external CPA firm. Oversee treasury, cash management, banking relationships, and financial institution account activity. Manage borrowing-base calculations, lender reporting, covenant compliance, and the annual lending institution bank audit. Oversee lease portfolio management and accounting, including classification, reporting, analysis, collections, and payment-related processes. Ensure timely and accurate income, sales, property, and other tax compliance reporting; coordinate annual income tax returns with external CPA firms. Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, financial systems, and safeguards over company assets. Monitor risk-management programs and oversee the corporate insurance program and relationship with the company’s insurance advisor. Lead and develop the accounting team, including staff supporting general accounting, tax, collections, payments, and related functions. Oversee financial reporting for foreign subsidiaries and support international accounting and VAT requirements in Canada and Europe. Research technical accounting matters and lead or support special projects that improve controls, communication, productivity, and financial decision-making. Serve as a key financial partner to management by providing timely information, analysis, and insight to support business decisions. Potentially support accounting needs related to affiliated family business interests. Required Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience; direct experience in equipment finance, equipment leasing, lease accounting, or a closely related asset-based finance environment is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of equipment finance economics, lease portfolio accounting, lender reporting, borrowing-base calculations, and covenant compliance. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or accounting leadership experience with demonstrated people-management skills. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles. CPA Certification Preferred, But Not Required. Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power10 or similar financial/accounting systems is a plus. Experience with treasury, cash management, audit coordination, tax compliance, and internal controls. International accounting and Value Added Tax experience in Canada and/or Europe preferred, but not required. Strong analytical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to think creatively while maintaining a high level of accuracy and control.
