Location: On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia.

BWXT offers paid internships along with a housing stipend for those interns whose home of record is more than 50 miles from Lynchburg, VA. Internships will last approximately 10-12 weeks. At the end of the internship, each intern has the opportunity to present their completed work/ assigned projects to the leadership team.

Your Day to Day as a Health Physics Intern:

Health Physics engineer intern would be mentored learning basic Health Physics and Radiation Control principles and analytical methodologies. They would engage in day-to-day operations including audits, change management, and safety analyses.

Supporting duties would include:

• Review and update Radiation Protection Technical Work Records.
• Develop requirements for Radiation Work Permits.
• Maintain personnel radiation exposure records.
• Participate in audits of radiologically controlled areas.

Required Qualifications:

• Enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. degree in an Engineering/Technical/Science field. Health Physics related coursework (biology, physics) is preferred.
• Must be US Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance

Pay: $29.50

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) is expected to be $29.50 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
