Job Description And Duties Under the direction of Correctional Counselor II, Supervisor, Correctional Counselor I (CCI) is responsible for a caseload of approximately 160 incarcerated people. Identifies critical factors in their emotional and social maladjustment which have resulted in criminological behavior and evaluates these factors as basis for possible explanation of the deviant behavior, prospects for change in attitude and activities, and prognosis concerning expected adjustment in the institution and upon release. CCI’s are required to access and enter data into the Disability and Effective Communication system (DECS). Required to work evening hours for classification purposes. Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a three (3) percent reduction in pay in exchange for five (5) hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Working Conditions The California State Prison – Los Angeles County (LAC) is in Lancaster, CA (Antelope Valley) – home to our State’s Poppy Flower. LAC is approximately forty-five (45) minutes North of Valencia, CA, which is home to Six Flags Magic Mountain and is approximately seventy-five (75) miles North from Downtown Los Angeles/ Hollywood.
