Director, Clinical Pharmacology

Director of Clinical Pharmacology at AbbVie leads pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic activities across multiple drug development projects. The role involves strategic planning, regulatory guidance, cross-functional coordination, and potential team management to support R&D objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead clinical pharmacology and PK/PD activities across multiple major projects and portfolio assessment
- Advise R&D, regulatory, and management on scientific strategy, critical decisions, and development plans
- Review clinical protocols and regulatory documents; lead regulatory submissions and respond to agency comments
- Conduct risk assessments, identify issues, negotiate deliverables across functional areas to balance competing demands
- May manage and mentor personnel; drive process improvement initiatives within the department
Requirements
- PhD with 7+ years in PK, PBPK, PK-PD, pharmacometrics, or systems pharmacology; or PharmD with 9+ years; or MS with 15+ years; or BS with 17+ years
- Demonstrated leadership in pharmacokinetic, biopharmaceutic, and pharmacometric project execution
- Project management skills including scope management, progress tracking, and timeline management
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical drug development processes and multiple therapeutic areas
- Experience across drug development phases from planning through completion
- Strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Scientific project leadership experience with multiple concurrent initiatives
