Director of Philanthropy

The client seeks a Director of Philanthropy to build and lead a comprehensive fundraising and development program during a pivotal period of growth. This strategic, relational leader will shape the future of philanthropy by advancing a culture of philanthropy and partnering closely with senior leadership to support near-term capital campaign readiness and long-term endowment development. The Director of Philanthropy will oversee fundraising efforts including the annual fund, major gifts, campaign planning, alumni engagement, and donor stewardship. The role emphasizes designing and executing relationship-driven fundraising, while developing the systems, processes, and messaging needed to sustain long-term growth. Responsibilities also include articulating the case for support, including the relationship between tuition and the full cost of delivering the education, and engaging key constituencies such as parents, grandparents, alumni, and community supporters. The client has a strong financial foundation supported by consistent family participation in the annual fund, with significant opportunity to expand philanthropic reach. The position is expected to help establish a formal major gifts program, donor pipeline, and foundational fundraising and development infrastructure, and to prepare for and lead a capital campaign. The Director will report directly to the Head of School as part of the senior leadership team, initially supervise one staff member, and may shape roles and build a development team aligned with strategic priorities.
