Job Summary

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse in a medical center setting. This role involves providing specialized care for patients requiring a higher level of observation and intervention, with a focus on neurology, neurosurgery, trauma, and orthopedic cases. The assignment is scheduled to start on 10/12/2026 and will conclude on 01/11/2027, with a commitment of at least 48 hours per week, primarily on night shifts.

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift
• Schedule: 48 hours per week, with every other weekend or every third weekend schedule
• Required Qualifications: 24 months of current Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience; neurology/neurosurgery care experience; trauma care experience highly preferred; EPIC electronic medical record experience; active Iowa license or multistate compact license; BLS certification; ACLS certification; NIHSS (preferred); de-escalation certification (preferred); telemetry and specialty equipment experience; EKG/strip reading; drivers license; professional references within 24 months
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma level I experience; NIHSS certification; de-escalation certification (preferred)
• Float: Float rotation may be required across all campuses
• Additional Information: Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the past 12 months, no first-time travelers; requires tracking of specific skills; work history/resume must reflect 24 months of relevant experience; COVID-19 vaccination status may be considered; orientation scheduled for 10/12/2026 and 10/26/2026; holiday work required unless unit is closed; travel across multiple campuses involved
