Description This position has an every other weekend requirement. CNA certification is not required, but can be a plus and is paid a premium. Must be able to work some weekends. Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record. Services will be provided to various addresses/clients within a 30-mile radius of the branch address. This position is synonymous with the positions of Companion, Housekeeper, Homemaker, and Chore Worker. Responsibilities Assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living): bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, feeding. Mobility assistance including using transfer aids (Hoyer lifts, gait belts, etc.). Meal Preparation & Cooking; Light housekeeping & laundry (including washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen after meals, laundering clothes, bed linens, and other daily/weekly housekeeping activities). Grocery shopping/errands/transportation; Working with dementia/Alzheimer’s clients. Provides companionship for the patient/client while engaging in daily activities with clients. Pet services (grooming, feeding, walking, bathing, etc.). Represent the company positively and promote safety and well-being of clients and employees. Provide general assistance and care to patients/clients to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policy; submit in a timely manner. Immediately report changes in patient/client needs, condition, or incidents to the supervisor. Listen to and respond to patient/client needs in a timely and respectful manner. Professional Conduct & Development Attend and participate in internal staff development programs; obtain continuing education as required. Maintain and enhance clinical practice skills. Perform other duties as assigned; adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Other Duties And Responsibilities Report for work on time prepared to assume duties. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with individuals of all ages. Adhere to dress code and wear company name badge visibly. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Provide assistance as needed or direct individuals to appropriate resources with proper follow through. Comply with risk management, safety, infection control, TB screening, security, and fire requirements as appropriate. Provide a safe environment for clients and employees. Maintain mandatory in-services, certifications, and/or licensure competencies. Prerequisites Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of any required training program as per state regulation or contract. Direct Previous Experience: Two years’ experience in a similar position desired but not required; two years’ experience with the elderly desired but not required. Skills/Competencies: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently; ability to work with minimal or close supervision; maintain confidentiality. Must pass competency testing on hire and ongoing for core duties (meal preparation, housekeeping, infection control, safety in the home, emergencies, transportation, pet care). Other Qualifications: Updated smartphone (Android or iPhone); state Aide Registry listing if applicable; valid driver’s license with proof of insurance. Abilities: Work indoors for most of the workday; reliable transportation; physical ability to perform job duties (lifting, standing, bending, transferring, etc.); time-sensitive or stressful situations; travel to client locations; driving eligibility and acceptable driving record.
