Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of a high-volume university dining facility, ensuring exceptional food quality, safety, service standards, and overall guest satisfaction. This role provides leadership to staff, maintains compliance with health and safety regulations, and assists in financial and administrative oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily front- and back-of-house dining operations to ensure efficient service and high-quality food production
• Supervise, train, and support student and hourly employees; manage scheduling and labor allocation
• Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health code standards; maintain required compliance logs and documentation
• Monitor labor performance, productivity, and operational metrics to support financial goals
• Assist with inventory management, ordering, and cost control, including tracking usage trends and minimizing waste
• Support administrative functions including employee onboarding, payroll coordination, and HR-related processes
• Communicate effectively with management, staff, and cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues and ensure alignment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment that meets company and regulatory standards

Preferred Qualifications:

• Supervisory or management experience in food service, hospitality, or dining operations
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Experience with labor management, scheduling, and inventory systems

Work Environment

• Fast-paced, high-volume university dining setting
• Requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, as needed
