Telecom Operator - Access Center - Full Time 8 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Responsibilities Assist in directing incoming and outgoing calls and proper processing of all code emergencies via alarm panel or person-to-person. Take and process messages stored within the SDC IntelliDesk Call Processing System at USC/Norris and USC/University Hospitals, ensuring doctor/patient confidentiality. Maintain up-to-date schedules and doctor and staff contact information within the Telecommunications department. Provide warm, courteous and professional behavior while conducting call processing procedures; maintain consistent accuracy and a cooperative demeanor with callers. Assist with staff and patient call processing concerns; comply with JCAHO requirements enforced by Telecommunications management. Monitor 23 alarm panels at USC/University Hospital and 6 alarm panels at USC/Norris Cancer Hospital. Compile call log information, pulling necessary data from SDC/IntelliDesk upon request. Process conference calls for medical and hospital support staff. Prioritize tasks effectively, allocate time and adapt in a changing technological environment. Ensure all requests for overhead paging are announced with clarity and professionalism. Maintain current information on all medical staff and their coverage during absences. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school or equivalent. Proficient verbal and written communication skills; capable of communicating with all levels of employee, administrative, and staff. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Basic typing and computer experience, especially Microsoft Word. Capable of working independently and as part of a team; willingness to take on new challenges and projects. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the health care industry. Required Licenses/Certifications Fire Life Safety Training (Los Angeles City); card must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed prior to expiration.
