Position Purpose
The Head Stocker is responsible for leading stocking and replenishment activities to ensure merchandise is properly received, stocked, merchandised, and maintained throughout the store. This position provides direction and support to stocking associates, promotes operational efficiency, maintains merchandising standards, and helps ensure customers have access to a clean, organized, and fully stocked shopping environment.

Key Responsibilities Stocking & Replenishment Operations

• Lead daily stocking, replenishment, and product recovery activities.
• Ensure merchandise is stocked efficiently and according to company standards.
• Maintain proper shelf conditions, product facing, and store presentation.
• Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to department and store leadership.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, sorting, and staging merchandise deliveries.
• Ensure products are stocked in the correct locations and according to planograms where applicable.

Merchandising & Inventory Management

• Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and promotional displays.
• Ensure proper product rotation and inventory control practices are followed.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify out-of-stock conditions.
• Assist with inventory counts, audits, and stock accuracy initiatives.
• Support shrink reduction efforts through proper handling and merchandising practices.
• Maintain organized backroom and storage areas.

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide guidance, training, and support to stocking associates.
• Assign daily work responsibilities and monitor task completion.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and productivity.
• Assist with onboarding and training new associates.
• Support department and store leadership in achieving operational goals.
• Encourage a positive and productive work environment.

Customer Service

• Deliver friendly and professional customer service.
• Assist customers in locating products and answering questions.
• Address customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.
• Support a customer-first culture throughout the store.

Operational Excellence

• Maintain department and store standards for cleanliness and organization.
• Monitor workflow and ensure stocking tasks are completed efficiently.
• Support execution of store programs, seasonal changes, and promotional events.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity and stocking processes.
• Partner with store leadership to maintain operational readiness.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
• Promote safe lifting, stocking, and equipment usage practices.
• Maintain clean and hazard-free sales floor and backroom areas.
• Properly utilize pallet jacks, carts, ladders, and other equipment.
• Report and address safety concerns promptly.

Financial Accountability

• Support labor productivity and operational efficiency goals.
• Minimize product damage and inventory loss through proper handling practices.
• Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and controlling shrink.
• Support store profitability through effective execution of stocking processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail, grocery, stocking, warehouse, or merchandising experience preferred.
• Prior leadership experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate others in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of stocking, merchandising, and inventory practices preferred.
• Basic computer and handheld inventory device skills preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of merchandise up to company standards.
• Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive hand movements.
• Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, carts, ladders, and stocking equipment.
• Ability to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
