Pricing Actuarial Assistant: CAS Track & Analytics

Assistant Actuarial Analyst, Pricing AEGIS Insurance Services Inc. has an immediate opening for a role that will support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of actuarial pricing models; collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Claims, Underwriting, and IT; and contribute to rate monitoring and adequacy analyses. Job Description The ideal candidate is analytically strong, a clear communicator, and actively pursuing membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS). Job Requirements Actuarial internship or relevant insurance industry experience desired Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline Completion of at least 1 CAS exam Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools Demonstrated ability to think programmatically and apply problem‑solving skills Exposure to SAS, R, Python, SQL, and/or VBA is desired, with the ability to manipulate data, automate processes, and support model development Candidate Attributes Collaborative Communications and Behavior: Develops and maintains effective working relationships as a team member and across divisions; readily collaborates, shares information, seeks and provides constructive feedback, and supports a respectful workplace Initiative and Accountability: Proactively addresses opportunities to enhance AEGIS' people, processes, products, and services; takes ownership for responsibilities by acting with integrity and in the best interest of the organization and stakeholders Quality‑Focused: Demonstrates a solution‑focus, displays thoroughness and accuracy through quality deliverables, and demonstrates persistence and perseverance in achieving tangible outcomes Service‑Oriented: Conveys a genuine desire and ability to anticipate and meet customer needs and creates and nurtures mutually beneficial relationships within AEGIS and with AEGIS members and brokers Essential Job Functions Support pricing analyses for large individual accounts, incorporating loss‑sensitive program structures and translating underwriting objectives into actuarial frameworks using appropriate techniques and tools Assist in producing monthly rate monitoring analyses, identifying trends and underlying factors contributing to rate level movements Contribute to semi‑annual reviews of rate adequacy and support the development of pricing strategies by analyzing historical performance, trend studies, industry benchmarks, and emerging risks to evaluate pricing effectiveness and inform strategic decision‑making Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of actuarial pricing models to improve pricing precision Contribute to the development and implementation of predictive analytics tools to enhance pricing precision and identify new risk signals Assist in maintaining thorough documentation of model assumptions, methodologies, and updates to ensure transparency and reproducibility Collaborate closely with Underwriting and other business units to ensure pricing recommendations are well‑informed and actuarially sound Communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly and concisely to non‑technical stakeholders, supporting informed decision‑making Maintain steady progress toward CAS credentials and actively participate in internal training, knowledge‑sharing sessions, and industry learning opportunities Salary We expect to pay a starting salary between $70,000 and $80,000. Placement within this range is based on qualifications and experience.
