Overview The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. The Carle Cath Lab performs many exciting and innovative procedures including, but not limited to: Diagnostic Cardiac Cath, PTCA interventions, TAVR, Left Atrial Appendage Closure, MitraClip, as well as peripheral vascular procedures including Peripheral Angiography and Peripheral PTA. Staff collaborate with physicians and members of the Prep/Recovery and Procedure Lab staff to facilitate excellent patient care. The HVI offers opportunities for personal and professional growth, flexible staffing options such as cross‑training, job sharing, and minimal on‑call shifts, free CEUs through the HVI MD Lecture series, mentoring programs, and educational events with various HVI equipment and procedural training. Qualifications Certifications: Education: Work Experience: Responsibilities Evaluate and enhance your own nursing practice by utilizing the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope and Standards of Practice to provide 1:1 patient care to adult patients undergoing a variety of diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures. Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards that is based on patient and family needs. Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modify plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Administer moderate sedation and other medications in a safe manner by following Carle Policies. Communicate with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identify own learning needs and take initiative to begin an appropriate solution. Perform hemodynamic monitoring, identify potential life‑threatening arrhythmias, and implement appropriate clinical treatment. Collaborate with patients and families to answer questions and provide emotional support when needed. Enhance patient care activities and act as a safety advocate through participation in ongoing department quality improvement and evidence‑based practice projects. Coordinate safe care delivery through effective communication with the multi‑disciplinary team. Recognize and adapt to potential changes in procedures while responding to emergent situations. Participate in a supportive, collaborative environment while working as part of a cohesive 3‑4 staff team, comprising Registered Nurses and Radiology Technologists. Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies. Administer medications necessary for procedure. Manage care of patients during moderate sedation. Monitor hemodynamics throughout procedure. Provide outline documentation of procedure events. Understand use of supplies and equipment used in various procedures. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $35.87 per hour – $58.37 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
