ASCP Certified Patient Care Technician - ICU Telesitter PT Nights

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff. This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare policies and demonstrates proficiency in unit-specific competencies, policies, and procedures.

• Provide attentive care to patients ranging from newborns to the elderly to support positive health outcomes.
• Adhere to privacy and security regulations protecting patient health information.
• Maintain professional communication and collaborative relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support unit operations.

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) recognized within the region.
• Equivalent experience such as early nursing education is also considered.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification from an approved provider, obtained within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.
• Completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, and instrument care, particularly in obstetrics and surgery.
• Completion of on-the-job training in EKG and phlebotomy, especially for emergency care.

• Previous experience in a medical environment.
• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification from ASCP is a plus.

• Basic to moderate computer skills, including those necessary for telesitter monitoring.
• Effective communication skills and a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
• Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

• Ability to perform very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Standing or walking for 75-100% of the workday.
