Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.Responsibilities:Maintain and repair HVAC support equipment on facilities systems including air handlers, chilled water, condenser pumps, cooling towers, valves, filters, etc.Maintain preventative maintenance schedule on launch associated HVAC systemsCollaborate with engineering and managers to maintain systems in peak operating conditionFollow all regulations and appropriate SpaceX procedures including quality policies, safety policies, and standards per OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, NECPerform ductwork modifications and various repairsPerform brazing, soldering, evacuation and charging of various refrigerantsPerform water piping and insulation modifications and repairsBasic Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalency certificate3+ years of professional experience working with HVAC, pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical systemsPreferred Skills and Experience:Associate degree in HVAC technologyKnowledge in the following areas: HVAC, electrical safety, pneumatic principles, tubing, pipe-fittings, rotating machinery (pumps, air compressors, etc.), and a variety of mechanical fastenersUniversal certification from the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI)Knowledge of high pressure gas, flammable gas, and refrigeration gasesProfessional experience maintaining high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters and standard air handling unit (AHU) filtration systemsBasic understanding of the theory of operation for refrigeration, motors, and mechanicsAbility to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies and industry standardsAdditional Requirements:Must be able to work all shifts, overtime and/or weekends as neededStand: Up to 10 hours per daySit: Up to 3 hours per dayPush/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per dayOverhead reach: Up to 1 hour per dayWalk: Up to 6 hours per dayLift/Carry: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per dayClimb (ladder/stairs): up to 3 hours per dayKneel/Crouch: up to 1 hour per dayUpper body twist: Up to 6 hours per dayAbility to work in temperatures over 80 degrees: up to 3 hours per dayCandidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, using an air purifying respirator, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description.
