As an Environmental Scientist specializing in environmental justice, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in reviewing and analyzing environmental assessment documents and policies from federal, state, and local agencies regarding determinations of geographic reach and scope for identifying and assessing infrastructure project impacts on environmental justice communities. Your work will contribute to FERC's implementation of its first Equity Action Plan per Executive Order 13985. The Executive Order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government, issued on January 20, 2021, aims to address systemic barriers and promote equal opportunity for underserved communities and individuals in the United States. The order emphasizes the importance of advancing equity, civil rights, racial justice, and equal opportunity across all federal agencies. It directs agencies to assess their programs and policies for perpetuating systemic barriers and develop strategies to deliver resources and benefits equitably to all. We aspire to build and enhance an exceptional and diverse team of high‑achievers who always put mission and the spirit of service first. This position aligns with functional/technical service requirements and client engagements in the Client Industry Sector. Review and analyze environmental assessment documents to identify potential impacts on environmental justice communities, evaluating policies, practices, and methodologies used by federal, state, and local agencies to determine geographic scope and reach for infrastructure projects. Conduct research on environmental justice principles, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Support FERC's implementation of its Equity Action Plan, integrating environmental justice and equity considerations into FERC's processes and decision‑making. Produce detailed reports that summarize findings, conclusions, and recommendations based on the review and analysis of environmental assessment documents and policies. Deliver presentations of findings and conclusions to FERC stakeholders, and provide staff briefings as needed. Qualifications Proficiency in written communication and the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner. Attention to detail and the ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in reports. Familiarity with environmental justice issues and policies, and knowledge of energy infrastructure projects. Ability to work collaboratively with others and meet tight deadlines. Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Environmental Science or a closely related field with a focus on environmental justice and equity. Demonstrated expertise in environmental justice and equity principles, regulations, and policies. U.S. Citizenship Required – You must be a United States Citizen. Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe). All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a “Facility Access Authorization” (also referred to as an “Employment Authorization”) by the USG’s designated Security Office.
