Production Technician

Production TechnicianWe are seeking a Production Technician in our Newtown, CT facility where we finish wafer tables for use in the semiconductor industry. This role sets up and utilizes specialized equipment to precision finish our unique materials. 2nd shift 3:00PM -11:30PM Monday - Friday. Eligible for shift differential of 10%. OT as neededPrimary Duties & ResponsibilitiesExecute key phases of semiconductor wafer chuck manufacturing processes, but not limited to, precision lapping, ultrasonic cleaning, and relevant inspection including interferometry. Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions and other documentationEnsure equipment is compatible with product specificationsOn-going training of departmental personnel in a variety of technical issuesInterface with Engineers and with employees from other departments within the CompanyMaintain a safe, clean and organized work environmentContinuously focus on driving initiatives to eliminate wasteFollow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructionsFollow all applicable Quality systems and initiativesPerform all other duties, as assignedEducation & Experience2+ years relative experience in high-precision manufacturing environment2-year technical degree desirableExperience in ultrasonic cleaning, lapping equipment, interferometer equipment, precision measuring equipment, and clean room operationsExperience in optical lappingExperience with precision measurement methods and systemsExperience with manufacturing process improvement initiativesExperience with networked PC based computer system (spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems)SkillsAbility to read and understand engineering drawings and process proceduresDemonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely while offering suggestions for continuous improvementGood manual dexterityFine motor skills – able to manipulate small componentsClean and organizedPatient and conscientiousMetrology: Skilled in the use of hand and electronic gauging (inspection less than.0001 inches) and other electronic equipmentAble to get along well with othersAble to work overtime, as requiredAbility to work in a cross-cultural, team based environmentGood interpersonal and communication skillsWorking ConditionsNewtown, CT facilityPhysical RequirementsAbility to frequently lift/push/pull a minimum of 25 poundsAble to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facilityWalking/standing a minimum of 8 hours per dayAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
