Position Overview
Our client, a growing organization based in Royal Oak, Michigan, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to join their team on a part-time, remote basis. This role will be responsible for managing the full-cycle payroll process for approximately 300 employees across 15 locations on a bi-weekly payroll schedule . The ideal candidate will have strong payroll processing experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Experience with Paycor and QuickBooks is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for approximately 300 employees across 15 locations.
- Review payroll data, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and payroll-related issues.
- Coordinate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, wage adjustments, and benefit deductions.
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll audits as needed.
- Ensure payroll taxes and related filings are processed accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting teams to maintain accurate employee and payroll records.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to payroll processes and procedures.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-location environment.
- Experience processing payroll for a workforce of 200+ employees preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with Paycor and/or QuickBooks is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite , including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
